Anything that doesn\u2019t require refreshing a feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Taking the light rail<\/strong> \u2013 Alleviate some of the stress of your daily commute, and do some good for the environment while you\u2019re at it. For more information, see our transit guide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.downtownsac.org\/things-to-do\/get-around\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Taking risks <\/strong>\u2013 Say yes to things before it&#8217;s convenient. There is no \u201cperfect moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Being engaged in local government<\/strong> \u2013 Attend <a href=\"https:\/\/sacramento.granicus.com\/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">city council meetings<\/a>, join your neighborhood board, give public comment. Make your voice heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Being a tourist in your own city<\/strong> \u2013 Take some time to enjoy neighborhoods you\u2019ve never explored, museums you\u2019ve skipped, and local businesses you always drive by but never visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eating lunch with coworkers<\/strong> \u2013 Close the laptop and remember there is a person on the other side of your inbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\" src=\"https:\/\/www.downtownsac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PhotoCredit_DowntownSac_GRDN_2024_56.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-146881\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.downtownsac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PhotoCredit_DowntownSac_GRDN_2024_56.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.downtownsac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PhotoCredit_DowntownSac_GRDN_2024_56-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.downtownsac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PhotoCredit_DowntownSac_GRDN_2024_56-1536x1024.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>OUTs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Perfection over progress<\/strong> \u2013 Waiting until something is flawless could mean waiting forever. Try, try and fail, and try again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Following the status quo<\/strong> \u2013 Just because \u201cthis is how it\u2019s always been done\u201d doesn\u2019t mean there isn&#8217;t room for some improvement. It&#8217;s okay to evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doom scrolling<\/strong> \u2013 Stay informed, but don\u2019t let it drain you. Log off when it becomes too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wanting a village but not wanting to be a villager<\/strong> \u2013 Community doesn\u2019t just show up at your doorstep, you have to participate. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.downtownsac.org\/events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">community events page<\/a> is a great place to look for inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Downplaying achievements <\/strong>\u2013 You can be proud without being arrogant.
